This story is about embracing our shadow sides and all aspects of our personality. Children have no shadows as their personalities develop. Shadows begin to form as children adapt to society. The shadow prevents them from using certain traits of their personality that could be functionally useful. For example, being rude, being angry, saying no, objecting, setting boundaries. However, our personality is a whole, and all these shadow aspects need to be expressed appropriately. The story has a healing effect on the reader by explaining how to integrate all aspects of personality, especially our shadow sides, through the dialogue between Black and White.
