In a town where every living being—even objects and plants—casts a shadow with emotions of its own, shadows secretly mirror their owners’ virtues and flaws. Though unseen by humans, they love, quarrel, judge, and even discriminate, believing the shadows of people and animals superior to those of plants and objects. One ordinary afternoon, something extraordinary happens: Neşe’s shadow breaks away. For the first time, a shadow is free. At first, freedom feels intoxicating. But joy soon gives way to loneliness and fear. As the shadow wanders alone, it sparks panic and suspicion in a world unsettled by what no longer follows the rules.
