When Nova discovers that her favorite ice cream shop has been replaced by a mysterious new one, she is greeted with an unexpected question. Instead of choosing a flavor, children are invited to choose a feeling: a scoop of anger, a scoop of sadness, a scoop of fear, or perhaps a little happiness. As Nova and her friends return to the shop throughout the summer, they begin to notice something remarkable: by the time they finish their ice cream, the feelings they arrived with have started to soften.
